Christmas Sugar Cookie Recipe
Need a fun activity for the kids? Buy some holiday themed cookie cutters, and make a batch of sugar cookies. Fun for the whole family!
Ingredients:
1/3 Cup Butter
1/3 Cup Butter Shortening
3/4 Cup Granulated Sugar
1/8 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Baking Powder
1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
1 large Egg
2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
Frostings and/or Sprinkles (optional)
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Directions:
In an electric mixer, beat the butter and shortening on high speed for about 45 seconds. Slowly add the sugar, salt, and baking powder. Beat until everything is well combined; make sure to scrape the bowl occasionally. Beat in vanilla and egg, and then beat in the flour.
Divide the cookie dough in half. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and chill for 2 hours.
To help to clean up, layout a long piece of wax paper, and sprinkle flour over it. Roll half the cookie dough out to be 1/8” thick. Use cookie cutters, and place the cut out cookies on an ungrease cookie sheet.
Base for 7 to 8 minutes, the edges should be firm. Cool the cookies on a wire rack, and decorate!
And Enjoy!
